Inspired by the music of Stéphane Grappelli, Stuff Smith, Charlie Parker, Django Reinhardt and Louis Armstrong, Matt delivers a fresh and engaging take on jazz violin swing and early jazz styles, focusing on great melody, rhythmic energy, and playful improvisation.
Recognised for his “playful and inventive” style, Matt has been noted for delivering “something fresh and exciting within the gypsy jazz template” (The Jazzmann UK). Expect carefully chosen pieces that highlight Smith’s innovative approach to the violin, along with new works that pay homage to his sense of swing and energy.
